Hello! I noticed a recent change in my pH as well, that led me to have this constant BV type smell. Some risk factors that can exacerbate it are diet (super sugary foods/drinks (including alcohol!)), sex (vagina is acidic and sperm is basic) ESPECIALLY with new partners, sweat, urine or discharge build-up in panties, using douches inside, using scented bath soaps/body washes around the vulva, stress/hormonal changes. I was embarrassed. It's been 9 months but my gynecologist has essentially told me the risk factors (above)and how to minimize them. Limit the amount of sugars ingested, drink lots of water, keep underwear clean (don't leave soiled underwear on for too long), switch to unscented soaps for vulva, no douching. She also recommended new supplements to add to my routine. What has really helped me are taking daily probiotic pills of at least 10 CFUs containing lactobaccillus stains (rhamnosus & acidophilus). These you can find over the counter at any drug store. What this does is encourage the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut and vagina! Lactobaccillus strains important because they are found in vagina! That controls overall smell for the most part. I've also heard boric acid suppositories work! At least 600 mg - you can purchase on Amazon. I have purchased these and have yet to use them, as my gyno prescribed only for post sex encounters. Metro gel also works for me as well but gives me chunky discharge - I only use this on outer/inner labia to avoid smell without the discharge! Hang in there! Hopefully this helps some 😃
