On day 11 of Fluoxetine 20mgs and feeling a bit scared about some of the side effects I'm having. Had major surgery 3 months ago and started to feel really low and anxious post op. My anxiety has increased and sometimes feel like I'm going nuts, I'm also having weird random thoughts some of them quite disturbing and quite vivid disjointed dreams So glad to have found this thread, desperate for feedback that this will get better. Took Flu previously around 8 years ago but don't remember feeling this way at all

      Hi,

It's pretty grim isn't it. I know the feeling of wanting to be alone, it's like you just want to retreat into yourself and forget about the rest of the world. I too am pretty nauseous most of the time and after reading some of the posts it seems like it's quite common to get the side effects we are getting.  I suppose it's just one day at a time, after 11 days I'm reluctant to stop but could really do without feeling so crap. I hope things improve for you soon, be kind to yourself x

    Hi Deb,

I can tell you for sure that the first 2 weeks would be roller coaster ride. My anxiety became worse but finally it ironed out at the end of 3 weeks. I had little negative thoughts and felt that I could at least do something with my life. Prozac works that way, its just that you brain is rejecting in the initial phases. Hold on to it. I am currently in my 10th week. I am recovering, at least I don't get those panic attacks I once used to get. On 20mg maintenance.

Thanks Julie but I just don't think I can hack this. Today I feel awful, my head is banging, stomach churning and having scarey random thoughts. Spoke to GP this morning and she has suggested that Citalopram at a lower dose may be better with less side effects. She's also giving me something to help me sleep, we shall see x
