Hi all,

I was diagnosed with Perthes in my right hip when I was 5. I went through the Dr. Salter's type surgery and was in cast for months. I am 31 now and have been just fine since surgery. I do recall that my parents spent so much of time getting me through rehabilitation, excercises, hip and leg streghtenning for years. After so much of it, my leg has been fine. Yes, I do have occasional pain and my right leg is just a little bit weaker then left but overall I was good for years.

Anyhow, I am pregnant now and very concerned about baby delivery process. I was wandering if any of you having perthes went through normal vaginal delivery and had no impact on your hip?! Is Cesarian delivery recommended in these cases? Do any of you have any experience with this? How pregnancy impacted your hip and leg?

thanks a lot,

Anja

Hi. I had two children-one normal birth and one ceasarian- but that was because I'm small not because of my hip. I had no problems with my hip for either pregancy -apart from the aches that I usually get!

    hi there

i had my daughter 11 years ago a normal vaginal delivery. no problems except not being allowed to use stirrups.(thank goodness)

no other problems except a tired, sore leg with carrying the extra weight.

good luck with your future and congrats.

I had Perthes and have given birth to 3 children by normal delivery, the extra weight was more of an issue as my pain increased while pregnant
