Was just curious, as im still trying to find the best time for me. Honestly this isnt a survey! lol, well maybe it kinda is, lol. Just ive been trying different times, like morning time, night time mid day, and for one reason or another none seem to quite suit me, so was curiouse to what your experiences were or are. just being nosy really. All the best to you all G

Hey Gordon! What day is it for you? How are you feeling? How's the sleep? I take mine at 8 in the morning (after breakfast) I just take it at that time because the pharmacist told me it would help with sleep. When I was on celexa I tried it in the morning and it made me VERY drowsy. Tried taking it at night and couldn't sleep!

However daytime seems to be working for me with Zoloft smile

yup that was same or is same with me, taken it in morning drowsy all day and taken at night cant sleep? weird huh! took it at 7.30 yesterday, and actually slept, but couldn't sleep till 2 in the morning. I was fine the first 2 weeks on it, but thats probably cos the doc gave me Valium, so i was taking one 5mg at night and that helped me to sleep. Oh its Monday, today, im in Ireland.

I have mine in the morning at 9.30. But only because I am not in work at the moment so don’t need to be up early. I take it just after breakfast. This means I usually feel alright by mid afternoon, I haven’t been in them for long though. I haven’t tried it at any other time of day yet, mainly because I feel weird and twitchy afterwards so don’t want to take it too late so that I don’t sleep. smile

I take my sertraline right before bed (10-10:30 pm).  I find it makes me very tired and turns my brain "off" so I can rest.  I would have massive anxiety before bed and couldn't get my brain to shut off, so I would go days without sleeping.  This helps with that, plus it works into the next day when I am awake.  Helps keep me calm at work.

I take at night now. Used to take in the morning and thought maybe taking at night might help with side effects etc.

To be honest I am now on 150mg and my anxiety has calmed right down and I have no side effects any more except sweating ( but it's hot) and I've had terrible diarrhea in the mornings. This is calming down now.

What I want to say is after being off work for nearly 8 months ( 3 months with crippling anxiety and exhaustion which made me virtually house bound) And then very gradually getting better I have been back at work for 3 weeks. I work nights and am still taking at night before work at about 9.30 and also 9.30 when I'm off. It has made no difference to the way I feel so I actually think that when the correct dose is in your system and you feel better then the time of day doesn't seem to make any difference. In fact you know you are better when you forget and take it late and still feel fine.

Good luck to all reading this. Hang on in there ...the light at the end of your tunnel will get closer..🤞🤞🤞

      Hi Hoop

Once again your answers have helped tremendously. From the “survey” it does appear that the time may be inconsequential once the correct dose is found. I’m still struggling in whennto increase. I’m probdbly not at my correct dose YET as I’m still counting the empty tablet slots. I’m still on 50mg & it’s day 46.

Your humble experiential advice please : should I wait a full 8 weeks before increasing to 75mg, or should it be fine to do it now.

& then, how long should I wait to increase to 100mg?

One Dr said to go straight to 100mg.

Another said go to 75mg ????But I cant remember for how long I should be on 75.

Also it has been advised not to spilt the tablet ????

With all this rambling, clearly I’m not at my best dose🤯.

Im hoping the 🦄 will have some answers  & that the 🌈 at the end of tunnel lights up soon.

      Have a wonderful day.

I take mine 50mg in the morning after I eat, around 7am I feel it helps me during the day when I take it earlier.

    Hi Gordon,

I was switched from citalopram 40 to Sertraline 200 because of pregnancy. I now take mine as soon as I wake up, sometimes after breakfast sometimes before.

I really struggled with the side effects of citalopram when I first started so would take it before bed which I continued to do for a few years until the doctor pointed out I should be taking it in the morning.

I agree with Hoopz though once the right dose is in your system and you feel better it doesn't make much of a difference.

I take it at night because I'm a morning anxiety guy. Haven't had morning anxiety for a while now, but I still try to freak myself out every morning by overthinking how I feel.

Oooh I have morning anxiety, maybe I need to change when I take mine. I also wake up every morning and over think how I am, generally until I’m convinced I’m not okay. Do you manage to sleep okay?

    hey gordon,

I take my medication when i wake up in the morning so either 7:00 am or 9:00 am taking them in the morning helps my mood throughout the day but then when i get to the evening i'm really tired and disorientated. My GP recommended taking them in the morning but a similar time.

Thanks everyone. first two weeks on them and all i did was sleep this weeks different, not sleeping. i kinda worked out tho, this week anyway with the not sleeping problem, that roughly 7hrs after taking my tablet i start getting sleepy. It used to be an hour after i took it. Sure it will all probably have changed by next week anyways. lol. I also have a theory! LOL That they purposely add all these weird side effects to the tablets, then that way we end up so busy thinking about those and going through them, that we don't have time to think about the depression, and by the time the side effect have worn off, we've forgotten what we were upset about! lol.  Only kidding by the way.

Thanks for the reply's tho, it makes me see were all different how it effects us, and it makes sense that ones it properly start to work it wont matter when i take it. Thanks everyone, and all the best to you all G

I would increase to 75mg. But speak to your doctor. They don't make 25mg size so you have to split a 50 in half. There's a line down them so they split easily ..I never had any problem splitting them.

      Good luck from the 🦄

They make a 25mg pill, that's the one I take every morning. It's a little green oval pill (at least that's what mine looks like)
