Hello Ben, I have Lichen Sclerosus and this is not a typical presentation of the condition, unless it had been present and had been untreated for a considerable period of time?

In terms of being in France I would suggest if you do speak to any locals they do not have the typical British reserve about talking about issues like this. Simply state you have a skin condition similar to Eczema or Psoriasis and that unfortunately it is on your penis, they will recognise that all you need is the right medical help and hopefully tell you how to see a skin specialist / dermatologist.

In the mean time think about everything that is in regular contact with the skin of your penis, from soap and any form of body wash, are you a regular user of skin cream, lotions or moisturisers, or lubes of any kind for sex or masturbation.

I can guide you further if you simply update your Forum Post here, please do not PM or Message me.

What you need is a formal diagnosis so the correct form of treatment can be put in place ASP, if you are not due to return to the UK in the next month or two I would seek professional medical help in France ......

      hello dugie

thank you so much for your reply.

it has been like this for a few months now,but seems to be worse and some days and on other days its just like white scar tissue,i had something similar on the other side of my penis also but not as big, also if i look closely there seems to be very small whits lines all the way around my forskin like small paper cuts that have turned to scar tissue.

my hygiene is very good,i shower twice a day with out fail, use to use body wash or shampoo on my penis to clean it but now i am just trying to stick to warm water as people have said this will be best in other posts on here who seem to have the same problem as me.but they all have lichen sclerous ?

why do you think mine is not that?

      i hope your right! lol

      seems like a terrible condition.

and i am also afraid of it turning or being penile cancer??maybe im being dramatic.

some times i use a little bit of lube for sex but nothing new always use durex lube.but havent had sex in about 2 months now anyway.

i dont normally use any moisturizer at all down there but i did find a cream called emuaidmax witch is supposed to relieve symptoms of any irritation or cuts on your skin and it is penis friendly.

people actually use it for lichen sclerous so thats why i started using it but its hasnt really done anything.

the condition has not got worse but has nit got better at all either.

it just came out of no where, one morning i woke up and it was there.

i had a small case of phimosis a few year

s back but managed to treat it and cure it before it go to bad and at first i just thought it wad that again but i seem to have been wrong.

can i just ask why is it that you dont think it is lichen sclerous?

would it be better me posting a few more photos?

many thanks again,i feel isolated over here and being able to speak to someone about it is really helpful.

The fact that you are showering twice a day does not help the sensitive skin of the penis, when you were using body wash and shampoo this is like constantly using a weak solution of detergent on the penis, and simply the skin of the penis simply cannot cope with that.

When you have asked the question about other men having the same problem the majority can be termed contact dermatitis with the main culprit being soap, shower gel and other forms of body wash. Sexually active men who do not use protection often get yeast / fungal or bacterial infections and these can cause similar symptoms, and in all, symptoms like this are simply referred to as Balanitis which simply means skin irritation of the head or/and foreskin of the penis. So obviously, only a very small percentage of these will go on to develop Lichen Sclerous (LS).

Just to emphasise, when you shower or wash the penis (with water only, obviously!) this is only the first part of the process, afterwards, you MUST ensure the skin is 100% dry as leaving any trace of water on the penile skin can also become an irritant, and certainly play a part in worsening problematical skin.

So yes, I recommended that you see a skin specialist and this is so that you can get checked for any skin disorders, and hopefully the right form of medication put in place as soon as possible. And actually, the other symptoms you have mentioned do make the possibility that you have LS more likely, this is why it is essential for you to get checked - and yes, LS is no fun, but can be managed successfully if the right treatment regime is put in place AND is sufficiently adhered to!

Never tried anything like emuaid and many LS infected women swear by it healing properties, however, if it turns out you do have a severe skin condition finding something that further benefits the skin of the penis is a very individual thing. With conditions like LS what works for one can be positively dangerous for another - I prefer the approach of getting the skin condition under regular control - something that can take 6 months + itself, then see if other skin applications can benefit the skin ELSEWHERE on the genital skin.

So okay, you have mentioned phimosis, is it possible your foreskin was attached to the shaft of the penis in the location where the scar tissue is now?

In terms of using other medications my approach is do not try something unless it is actually that which you have - so stuff for yeast / fungal infections can make the situation worse if that is not part of the problem which you have.

So, you need to see a skin specialist / dermatologist ASP to get a formal diagnosis, then get the right form of treatment put in place ……
