Hi everyone, I started experiencing pain in my shoulder in October 2005 & just thought I had pulled a muscle or something so didn`t go to see my GP until begining of January when the pain was so bad I couldn`t sleep etc. He said I had inflamation of the shoulder joint & prescribed diclofenac & co-codamol which didn`t help much, in fact I realised that my shoulder was becoming more & more restricted.i lost time from work & my employer sent me to see a private physiotherapist through the works medical scheme. The physio said that while I was in so much pain she could not help me & she recommended I go back to my GP to sort out my pain relief, she was also the first person to suggest I had a frozen shoulder! After visisting my GP a few more times to sort out pain relief, i am now taking tramadol & co-dydramol,he eventually refered me to the consultant at my local nhs hospital. I saw the consultant in March & he confirmed I had FS & refered me for a MRI scan which I had to wait 10 weeks for. I then had to wait a further 10 weeks until yesterday 17/08/06 for the results. The consulatant told me that the scan had not shown any problem with my shoulder which he said confirmed his original diagnosis of FS. He then went on to tell me that I could wait to see if the FS resolved itself but this could take up to 2 years or more or I could have MUA but he also told me that this has only a 50% success rate & is very painful. I questioned him about keyhole surgery as the success rate is much higher but he insisted that I try the MUA first. I had no choice but to agree to this but when I spoke to reception they told me that there is a 4-6 month waiting list for this & if it doesn`t work there is a futher 6 month wait for keyhole surgery. Although I cannot afford it I have decided to look into having MUA or keyhole surgery done privately. I have looked on a few sites but cannot find a price anywhere. If anyone out there knows anything about this I would be very grateful for any information. Thanks

Hi, I had MUA done 10 days ago and my recovery is going really well. I had immediate "agressive" physio within 12 hours of the MUA. I had morning and afternoon physio for 3 days and then once a day after that. It is very painful and i am on strong pain-relief. It is worth it though as I have been able to maintain movement and range (on my affected arm). I would say I have between 70-95% movement, depending on which movement it is.

I had it done privately at Cromwell Hospital in London.

If you have anymore questions, I will be happy to answer.

The rehab road is painful but worth it. Night time is hardest, with pain.

I find this abusive,as i think it is an advert link to Alex's website-to sell through our misfortune!Checkout the'rights rserved' name at the base of the link-lo and behold its Alex.....

i'm sorry for sounding sceptical, but i am sufferer of frozen shoulders(in both),and i dont'like being taken for a ride, especially someone who probably hasn't a clue of how this feels. To me its someone lining there pockets through other peoples pain!
