hi everyone, its good to be able to read of other cases of thyroid problems. two years i was diagnosed with borderline underactive thyroid of which i have not been put on medication for but i have to go back for blood tests every 4 months sometime 2 month. i have put on about 2 stone (28 pounds) maybe more in that time. it is getting me down as i am desperate to lose weight and have been trying hard to but i cant seem to get anywhere. i also am unable to give blood because of the problem and i feel tired everyday unless i exercise which helps a lot but finding the get up and go is proving difficult. i sometimes wish the doc would put me on medication to see if it helps, but i cant tell him how to do his job. i also have a very dry scalp. i have been taking sea kelp which i think helps a very little. does anyone know of anything else i can try, i am so depressed sometimes which is un like my usual nature. i just want to lose some wieght as i hate the way i look.

I have underactive thyroid following radioactive iodine treatment 20 years ago. Kelp should not be taken if you have thyroid problems due to the iodine content check with your gp.
