Hi...hope this helps somebody!

I am the 79 yr old that broke her shoulder (via a fall) on May30th... I ended up getting 'past it all'...and wanted to share this. The ortho dr suggested surgery on the shoulder, and I asked if it was absolutely necessary...and he said "No" but I might have more trouble gaining full function back.

Well, I opted NOT to have the surgery and am SO GLAD I made that choice...I have no problems and no pain...and if I would be more of a 'good girl' and do my exercises every day, I would probably be able to wave my arm totally over my head... but there is nothing else stopping me from using that arm the way I please.

I have a friend who had the same kind of 'break' and opted TO do the surgery and is still having problems... I'm not saying the surgery is 'right or wrong'... but just wanted to share my own experience... I thought at my age, I would have more problems healing, but I didn't...the Xrays proved it healed just the way it should have... So, hope this somehow can be encouraging to others. Best of luck to everyone!
