Hi i am 33 years old, i was diagnoised with fibroids a couple of months ago, since february this year i have been having really bad pains and heavy bleeding at one point i nearly passed out in our local department store. I have never experienced anything like it, heavy bleeding and clots coming away from me and it was making me feel worn out and no energy at all. I went to my GP and he referred me to a ultrasound scan which shows 7cm fibroid inside my womb. Went back to see the consultant and he has put me on zoladex for 3 months to shrink it and in December I am having it removed, I hope this ends to it all so I can start planning my family with my newly wed husband.

    Hi,

I am 28 years old and found out I have a fibroid on Friday 13th October 2006. It is 13cm by 9cm by 9cm in size and is subserosal on my uterus. I went to the doctor as I was peeing alot more regular than normal and had a really bloated stomach every day which was putting me off eating much and really impacting me. I went for the ultrasound initially when they told me what I had then had the MRI scan about a week later which showed the detail. I then had an appointment with the gyaenocologyst who explained my options and I decided to go with reduction (using the Zoladex drug) followed by surgery 4-6 months later. I'm at about month 3 at the moment so am starting to get anxious and worried about the operation as I am terrible with needles leave alone an operation. I am also really worried about not being able to have our own family as it's something you take for granted that you will always be able to do. I'd like to hear about other people's experiences of the surgery so I know what to expect. Thank you and take care to everyone else out there who has the same or a friend/family member. Jacky

    Hi there

Would like to know how anyone else has got on after taking Zoladex to reduce fibroid size and subsequent operations.

Yesterday I was told that I have 2 fibroids, one 10cm, the other 13cm(apparently equivalent to a 28 week pregnancy!). I have had my first Zoladex injection today and will have three more to reduce the fibroids before surgery to remove them, probably in February.

I know what is supposed to happen in theory, but I'm worried that, particularly due to the size of my fibroids, that I may eventually end up having to have a hysterectomy. So, at the age of 34 and no children yet, I can see me having lots of sleepless night for the next few months, but nothing to do with the Zoladex side effects!

Can anyone put my mind at rest with stories with a happy ending??

hi. I am on my second round of zoladex injections due to a fibroid which is filling the entire cavity of my uterus. The first month was fine with just an increased feeling of pmt. Then on day 24 of the first injection - 4 days before the second jab was due - i started a period (which isn't in the script) and I have been loosing badly with huge clots and loads of them, ever since. JUst wondered if you have experienced anything similar. No night sweats, no flushes, no headaches - just the most horrific period you could imagine and i'm on my 4th week of it now. Agony!
