Hi Thank goodness there is somewhere to talk about HRT I am 70(But do not feel any older than 40 Odd )

I have left a violent mariage after many years with the help of D.V. group, it took me so long as in the 60s there was no help & you had to soldier on, but thats not my problem now as I am free....having been in 2 refuges & moving as my X found me after I started to rent a flat, I have had to contend with different Doctors, mt Doctor who put me on HRT after a hysterectomy said as long as I had mamagrams I could stay on it till I die...(Which hopefully will be many years hence as I am fit healthy & active. But easch Doctor I have had to move to has wanted me off Premarin. I have stuck it out withe all the orthers but this latest one is so insistant I come off because of my age, even though I am healthy, also she says Heart attacks. I have had it reduced to 0.3 mg when it was 0.6 1 tablet a day. I am so fed up as I want to as many of the letters have stated on here & also articles in the paper too, its safe if you abide by what I have said earlier. Can I insist I stay on it at the lower dose or not Please help this older but active & now happy lady Any advice please& thanks in advance Reagrds to all Pam

Hello Pam. Reading your post today has made me think you are a courageous and determined lady and I'm so pleased you managed to leave that relationship. I'm sure you've read a lot of the posts about the different GP's and their thoughts about prescribing HRT. The different GP's in my surgery even differ. There is lots of research on the internet re HRT. The Royal Collage of Gynaecologists take the stance that it is safe providing you are well and have no underlying illnesses or nothing heredity. They do say a lower dose should be prescribed which in your case has already been done. I would take all this research will you to your appointment and just be assertive. After all it's your body and after all you've been through you are now at a new stage in your life. Good luck Pam
