had a lot of pain after found out operated leg was over 15mm longer so now need built up shoe. Because I have a lot of arthritis in spine this is causing a lot of problems so Hope built up shoe will help. Also on X-rays it said there was a fairly large cyst in the bone. As the doctors have not said anything about this I thought it was nothing to worry about but from reading everyone’s stories I am starting to wonder. The doctor who did my op was just an arrogant pig who just kept talking over my concerns about the leg discrepancy

Hi Carolyn, are you saying that you still have a cyst? I had several cysts and spurs removed during my hip op. I got the information from my surgeon’s report which you can ask for. It should also tell you what type of hip you had and other information too.

Yes the cyst is still there I only saw it when I got my xray report the surgeon never said a thing about it. It says it is a fairly large cyst. You trust your doctors to know what they are doing. I feel like sending him the bill for the built up shoes 2 pairs will be around $600

    Dear Carolyn

My experience of cysts in connection with ankle replacements says very clearly that they must not be ignored otherwise they will spread and destroy your bones. Get it properly attended to ASAP please!

Hi Carolyn, So sorry to hear you are having problems. I had a TRHR 10 months ago and now I need to have the right one done. I too have arthritis in my back. I'm worried I'm still going to be in pain even after that one is replaced though a steroid hip injection with anesthesia seemed to really help so diagnostically that tells me a lot of the pain is indeed coming from the hip. When and how did you find out about your leg length discrepancy? Its something else for me to worry about. Why did you opt to have surgery with a surgeon you didn't like?

    Best,

    Donna

Hi he was recommended by my rheumatologist and seemed okay at the first appointment. My leg length was very noticeable as I kept limping and then calf muscle on the operated leg knotted up and I found it very painful to walk I dont think he measured my good leg, I dont have a problem in that hip so they cant even it up by operating on that one. He never mentioned the cyst but I noticed it on the xray report.

Hi Donna I know many people that have had both hips done and it has been very successful and they dont have any pain now. Just make sure they measure well. Best of luck hope all goes well for you.
