Hi,I have been off work since november with a prolasped disk,I'm 43,I have all the same type of pain as you people have had,Burning pain in the left buttock,Down the side of leg,And quite a sharp pain in the ankle bone,I was happy to find this website to read all the good results people have had from the surgery as i am due for my back op in 7 days,i too am scared but your stories have erased a lot of my fear,i will write again after i have my surgery,Regards Tony

    Tony hi hope your pains not too bad I too am having surgery next week (weds) and in some ways am excited that I may get my life back but I am also concerned that it may not work. How soon have you got the op? I have had to pay private due to 12mths wait!Good Luck next week.

    Good luck to you Tony I had my op 1 year ago and am doing everything I did previously and had no pain since.

    Hi,It has been 12 weeks since my micro diskectomy,It was quite painfull after the op for a few days but the severe sciatica i had was almost completely non existant,It was only after about 3 weeks from the op that it started again with a toned down version of the pain i had before,I have recovered quite well but still have minor cramping in my left calf muscle,I am moving around with little pain if i am walking,When sitting around my leg will start to ache,My doctor tells me it may take up to 20 weeks to fully heal,We will see,So if your having the same op as me i wouldnt worry much at all,Quite a quick operation with a 95% improvement as far as my op went,All the best folks and good luck to all,Tony
