hi, i have had really bad back pain in the left side just under half way down my back behind my ribs on the left side, i am almost 8 months pregnant but have had 2 other children and not expierienced this pain before, my grandad had Pleuresy and my mum said it sounds like i have the same as he had. for a few weeks now it has been an on and of pain not constant, but the last few days it has been constant i have a bad cough and have had a cough for almost 4 months the doctors have said my chest was clear about 5 weeks ago, but still gave me anti biotics, which did nothing for the cough. getting an appointment with our doctor is like waiting for christmas in february!! after reading an article on this site it sounds to me like do have pleuresy but i am not sure, the pain is like a stabbing and squeezing pain, just on the left side and is murder when i cough it is excruciating, it also worsens if i sit in the same possition for more than about 15 minutes, i have to get up and sit forward for a while, being pregnant moving about is getting to be a chore in it self lately. i have found this site very informative on the condition, but obviously im not in the medical proffesion so cant say wether my symptoms are that of pleuresy or not.thanks jaime

    hi im 6 months pregnant and i also have that squeezing pain on thre top of my rib cage but i only get that when i eat or sit for like 10 minutes or so well i think is the rib is pushing into the skin cause i had 4 pregnancy and it always happened after you give birth it will go away

    Your symptoms sound really similar to mine. I have always had left side chest pains for years. But it seemed to be easing. However I have developed a cough which I have had for over a year,but before it used to go away. now I have maybe one week of no coughing, followed coughing bouts throughout the day. But like you the doctors said my chest was fine and I have also had antibiotics and seen a chinese herbalist. i just realised today that maybe I had this condition pleurisy so I'm going to make another appointment and bring it up with my doctor.

    I am having a problem (chronic) with left side pain. While I have had what I thought was pleursy, this is a different. I think it may be related to the Spleen. My bloodwork is abnormal. I plan to investigate this with a Hematologist. It seems to me that perhaps a number of problems on this page are being related to pleursy that could be something else. I am a non-medical person, just a thought.
