Hi, I'm a 44-year old female and have been having these horrible chest pains for several months. I had a couple of EKGs and a nuclear stress test, spent a night or two in the heart hospital, and everything was negative. One of my doctors suggested it might be Tietze's Syndrome. What is so incredibly scary is that, despite the tests coming out negative, every symptom I have is right out of the "what a heart attack feels like" textbook -- chest heaviness, burning, a "tugging" feeling, pain radiating into the shoulder and left arm...it is so incredibly scary! Everyone talks about severe pain, but I haven't really had excruciating pain -- mostly extreme "heaviness" or tightness in my chest and pain in my left shoulder. Does anyone else have these symptoms? I would be very grateful to hear from you if you have had a similar experience. Thanks so much!

Thank you!!!!! you could have been describing me and it's such a relief to hear other people going through the same thing. I had a severe viral infection late November and after I began to recover from that the chest heaviness and arm numbness started- it's now middle January and I can't even go for a 5 minute walk without ending up in severe pain and tired out for days. I've been reffered to a heart specialist for tests as there's heart history within my family but the doctor is pretty sure I have Tietzes. I agree with you that it's very frightening and I've been off work for 2 months now, I'm usually very active but this has knocked me for six. I'm 41 years old with no previous ill health- feel free to e-mail me if you wish

I am about the same too - although I have had a cancer op so this may have brought on the condition? I dunno... no-one seems to know anything. Very very annoying. Also I had to diagnose this condition myself as the doctors "didn't know" (!) what the lump on chest was. I was very active - horse riding, yoga, ballet, trapeze all sorts. Very fed up.

Wow, was I ever glad to find your posts. I am going through the same symptoms as you. Heaviness in the chest with the arm pain and numbness and tingling. By mid day I cant stand to have a bra on, it feels as though its choking me. I have heart trouble and thought it was from that, but now I wonder if its tietzes also. Cant go back to the doc yet, no ins at the moment. I am ok in the am but by afternoon I am miserable. Thank you so much for posting .
