Hi, I've just found this website and have found it very helpful as I am nearly at my wits end! When I say at my wit's end I literally on my hands and knees having to crawl to the bathroom this morning! I can only put this down to having been on my feet all of the previous day........and I've only just turned 40......it worries me greatly.

I've was dagnosed with PF a few months ago, but I've had it for more than a year before that and just put up with it until I could no longer! Anyhow, had the x-rays, and nothing much in the way of advice and cure apart from taking ibubrofen and ice packs. I have it in both heels and it was caused by wearing the wrong shoes last summer or even the one before, I believe. I just felt that there was nothing much they could do to help and was more or less told it would sort itself out. That didn't really help. Anyway I as most of you have done, I have invested in special supportive inner soles which do feel nice and relieve the pressure, but they were not cheap......why couldn't I have got those on prescription! Also I have been given a foot massager which I shall be using regularly to see if that helps. The Ibubrofen uspsets my tummy taken over a long period and didn't seem to make any difference. They advised against surgery or the injection. So now I'm feeling I ma well try to get some splints to wear at night..........wondered if anyone had any ideas or recomendations with regard to splints? I am still searching the net for any other methods of treatment too.

Best wishes to all.

Alison

I,ve had pf for at least 6 months sort of crept up on me in my rt foot only. I have night splints and have worn them all night for some weeks. I take them off in the morning and my firts steps are completly pain free. However by experiment I have found that some gentle stretching in the morning before I get up has exackley the same effect so my conclusion is they do no good. I certainly think the anwer is stretcheing but I think you need to find and remove the oridginal cause to beat it completley-- unfortunatley I have not yet dealt with either and the medical profession seem to have no real idear

If Ibuprofen helps but upsets your tum, have you tried rubbing in Ibuprofen Gel?

I have had pf for the last 10 months - and nothing has helped. Have tried the painkillers... different shoes, insoles, silicon heel cushions, but nothing seems to be helping. I've had the cortisone injection mentioned - but I cannot see how this will help long term. I'm looking for a long term solution - not a quick fix only to have it return a year later. I'm not at all overweight so this cannot be a contributing factor. I have read quite extensively on the internet about a day and night walking brace that basically stretches the tendons. It is recommended to wear it for a minimum of 3 weeks. I'm seriously considering trying this - but it seems to only be known in America. Has anyone else heard anything on this?
