Hi, I was just reading all these comments about the drug Zopiclone. This is not an experience but rather a long question.

My boyfriend has just been prescribed Zopiclone and we have been scouring the web for information on the drug. We have a few questions that we have but can't seem to get an answer on is this:

How long would one tablet of zopiclone knock you out for?? Does it vary in length of time? Can an alarm wake you up when needed if you are on this drug? My boyfriend needs to wake up at 4.30am for work.

Please help us if you can with any information at all... This is really worrying for him and I'd love to be able to put his mind at rest...

Many thanks for taking the time to read this message.

I find that they can last until 7ish for me, but I too have to get up at 4.30 sometimes and usually take half a tablet on those occasions, I have had no experience with missing the alarm.

I took my first zopiclone last night and it worked wonders for me! I took it around 10:45, started feeling sleepy, was in bed by 11:15 and asleep by midnight (I have terrible insomnia). I was worried that I would not wake up when I needed to pee during the night, but I did, and was able to get right back to sleep. I awoke at 7:55 and felt a bit groggy, but this soon passed and today I have more energy than I've had in a very long time. The worst thing about it seems to be the horrible bitter taste it leaves in your mouth, and drinking water today has been awful because of that bitter taste. There seems to be no effect on sweets or savorys, just on plain water, and the lingering bitterness at the back/sides of my tongue all day long.
