Hi
Im 21 years old and have been recently diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called vasculitis, I am on a number of medication including prednisolone. I suffer from all the side affects and im having a real hard time with it, e.g Weight gain, moon face, Stretch marks. Im currently on i have been reduced frm 60mg quite quickly but these side affects still remain. Does any body know if i will return back to normal?
Thanx x

I have been on Prenisolone for the past eleven years, due to kidney failure in 1996. The highest dose I have been on has been 10mg and it doesn't take long to get the moon face, weight gain, thin skin and bruising easily among others even on that dosage. Several times I have slowly, over a period of months, reduced them down to 2mg, but always end up having to up the dose for some reason or another.
At the moment I am have been on 5mg for a year and find the side effects are a lot better. If I watch what I eat I can keep the weight down a bit, If I knock myself I don't bruise quite so easily.
Hopefully over time you may be able to reduce the Prenisolone down further which should make things a bit easier.
