Hello...due to have tests for RA, ESR, CRP and immune profile tomorrow. had a few bouts of problems with joint in my jands and wrists (bi lateral) over padt year and put down to age (53) and havent sought advice/help from GP. For past two years had fatigue which ive been prescribed regular iron for. No real diagnosis for this except again my age and being peri-menopausal. Now for the past four weeks my hands, finger and wrist joints been painful, sometimes throbbing. Evety day they are bad but some days more than othets and pains in joints change around i.e. some joints bad one day other joints bad other days. I also get some muscle aches in my arms?? Do these symptoms seem to indicaye RA?

    Hi there,

you say that are due to have tests for RA, ESR, CRP and immune profile tomorrow, can I ask if these are being carried out by a Rheumatologist?  if not, I think it would be really advantageous to ask to be referred to one asap.

I did ask as a nurse at work suggested it but they said they cant without bloods being done first. They took bloods last week Vit D, Iron etc and all OK but took none for RA so annoyingly having to go back again today. The pain in my hands is daily and Been four weeks now. Also just so wiped out so hoping to get some answers whatever it is but someone mentioned RA and when i read up I seem to have many symptoms although my joints and hands feel swollen they are not always red? Seems generally worse at night and morning as think im avtive in day so using my hands more?

As you say, so annoying that you have to go back again today for more bloods.  A Rheumatologist  is a doctor who specialises in diagnosing and treating arthritis and related conditions so is definitely the best person to see. Also if you have a read of the Arthritis Care site, it states that no blood test definitively diagnoses rheumatoid arthritis.  My GP is very good and does all he can to help, I wish you luck with yours.  It would be good if you could let us know how you get on.
