HI I am 43 perimenopausal. I have this pain extending from both shoulders down my arms all the time but worse when I use them for high overhead lifting etc. Has anyone experienced this and how can it be fixed.

You should see a doctor to be diagnosed. A friend and I had similar symptoms (hers was on both sides, mine on one side only) and we were both diagnosed as having a pinched nerve in the neck. Physical therapy helped both of us a lot.

    Hi Justine,

Mine are the same, left worse than right. I need to see the doctor about it really but I'm fed up with being poked and prodded.

I have found resting it just makes it worse. Over Christmas my husband had me rest the left one, so he did some of the things that cause it the most pain, helped me on with my coat etc. But a few days when I did try to do those things (I have some lights that I really have to lean over to turn on and off) the pain was much worse and was then at a point that I could not reach behind to do my bra up.

I'm not sure if it's the start of frozen shoulder? Anyway that's what I've found it's best to wince and get on with it or it seems to seize up and then you loose movement.

Now it still hurts and the right one is just starting the same but most days I can do my bra up with some discomfort, I find one of the worst things putting on a coat or cardigan and reaching for my seat belt in the car.

The pain can be anywhere between my shoulder and elbow but mostly near my bicep and also on occasion pins and needles in my thumb and hand.

I was having a lot of tingling/numbness and some pain in my left arm/shoulder (sometimes in my right but usually my left), and so I started seeing a chiropractor.  They thougth it was a pinched nerve, and I started having adjustments and massage once a week for 8 weeks.  It felt *much* better after a few treatments.  At the end of the 8 weeks I thought I was all better so stopped going.  Now (a few moths later) it's coming back again, so I *just* started on another round of chiro/massage.

You should go to a doc or chiropractor to make sure that's what it is (mine did xrays to be safe before he started).
