With mine I start feeling crampy, I try to hold on as long as I can but a lot of times you just can't I have to go into the bathroom and it gets so painful I start to sweat I get so hot when I have to take all my clothes off I called for my husband he's so helpful he brings me a fan and gets a cold rag or my neck and I know once the constipation is gone it will start feeling better but it seems like it takes it forever I get so week it feels like I'm going to pass out and I have to lay down on the bathroom floor and yes there has been times many times over this happens at work and I have to lay on the bathroom floor it there as well it comes and goes when it wants it doesn't matter where I am at or what I am doing it's going to hit me I even had a gastric bypass and I thought that would ease it all up but it didn't. I've tried many things nothing seems to work and I figured I'd just have to live with it.

I still have a major problem believing this is IBS. I was "diagnosed" three years ago. Im generally ok I get a lot of heartburn but apart from that im generally quite well. Except when i have what im going through now, i have explained it all in a post of my own, but the D is unbelievable the cramps are terrible, i lose weight as i literally give up eating whilst in a "flare" I look pale too. I have no energy and feel like I have flu. This like what im going through now lasts up to three weeks at a time, it depresses me. I mostly wake up with horrible cramps and wind pains through my stomach in the early hours of the morning. I go to the toilet about three or four times, empty my bowels and then im not so bad , until the next time (usually after overnight sleeping) it all starts again.
Im waiting for another endo and colonoscopy. The Dr thinks it could be Bile Acid Malabsorbtion.. Im trialing some acid reducers to see how that goes.

I have bile acid malabsorption and I'm nothing like that
Also when you get diagnosed with bam you get told you have ibs aswell and that you'll probably get chrons. Dr said bam is intestine damage so makes sense to keep being checked for chrons ect
I was told bam doesn't cause cramps ect but does cause yellow D .... I on this medication still have horrible horrible pains and they palmed it off as ibs BUT rarely get D now!!!! So if it's bam and if your D doesn't stop UP YOUR DOSE i take like 3 questran daily at least but email a man called Julian Walters I did he's a bam specialist and gives you lots info :D

Symptoms vary from mild to severe but rarely do I wake up with no pain.

This is an older post. I don't know if you're still looking at replies. Have you been tested to rule out Crohn's or UC? I'm not trying to scare you, though I am starting to wonder myself if my IBS is really IBS.
A lot of people here seem to have some pretty severe symptoms. I'm wondering if some of us are being misdiagnosed?
Uncertainty is no fun.
My pains haven't come to the surface for a long time, but this autumn I started feeling what in retrospect, I think of as a dilating, pulsing feeling and pain. I had a sharp pain on the left for the longest, and recently experienced an attack of what was called Infectious colitis and focal point colitis. The diarrhea only lasted for a few hours and was a lot of fluffy stool, rather than straight liquid. Although two years ago I experienced 5-6 weeks of diarrhea intermittent with stool trying to form.
My colitis attack was just after Thanksgiving (I'm in the USA). So it's three weeks today since that happened. I ended up in the ER. SInce the question is about pain, I'll just say it's been three weeks, and I have a hard time telling whether the pains I feel are due to nerves when I think too hard about this, or due to passing food. I wake up feeling perfectly fine every morning. Even on the morning when I woke up needing to poop, no pain then. So, not sure what's going on.
The pains are often symmetrical.

I first started experiencing IBS symptoms about a year ago. After eating, i get pains in my left side right below the rib line. After eating, the pain usually lasts for about 2 - 3 hours then goes away. When needed, I usually just take a couple ibuprofen's which seems to help some. Sometimes at night, i will put a heating pad on the affected area. Again, helps a little. My symptoms seem fairly mild compared to others on here. I just hope my symptoms don't get any worse. I haven't been to the dr. about it yet. Going to the bathroom is still fairly normal - no problems there. Pain seems to decrease after a BM. My appetite has gone away some, so i don't eat as much anymore. Losing a little weight because of that. I think i need to start looking into changing my diet. Prob. softer foods to see if that helps.

My ibs flares in times of stress or if I eat the wrong thing. I have ibs c so apart from being bunged up I do sometimes get loose stools because of the amount I'm compacted.

Hey there. Not sure what I have going on with me and wanted to see if maybe some of you with IBS have experienced what I am going through. For about a month now I have been constipated with the constant feeling of needing to go number 2. When I try nothing comes but gas and bloody mucus substance. I have terrible pain that is around more often then not in my abdomen and lower back which causes me to feel nauseous. I am only 24 but the pain and stuff showed up out of nowhere and I'm having a hard time knowing what it could be. I know your not doctors but a personal opinion would be welcome. Loss of energy spurts happen every so often as well. I've tried softeners and laxatives but they do not help and if I do pass stools it covered in the mucus and small

Hey everyone, I too am suffering everyday. I just got diagnosed with ibs - d. I am still in denial and very confused. My pain is Definetly everyday, every couple of hours in the lower abdomen and even below the naval. It's this dull and sometimes sharp shooting pains. I had a colonoscopy, but what I find to be weird is that my doctor told me I had slight thickening of a bowel wall, and irritation on my sigmoid colon. But I don't have crohns or uc or polyps, and said the top of my small intestine looked clear. He took a biopsy of an area that he thought to be microscopic colitis but came out negative. Have had every bacteria test except this h pylori one. I find it weird because he kind of shrugged that off when I asked for it. I'm so confused could this just really be ibs, or something more? Got put on viberzi we'll see if it helps.

Hi there,
Generally I'll have a niggling crampy/bloated feeling that on a day to day basis I can handle. When it gets particularly bad during a flare up, the pain will become like a sharp, stabbing sensation across my abdomen and upper half of my stomach.

Now, i resigned and still have IBS but not everyday. I have progressed to ibs C often times but with the low fodmap and some products I trust like LemonAid and some good probiotics too. How about you?
