Hiatus Hernia

Posted , 1 user is following.

I have been suffering from ab pain for the last 4 months.

It started under my right rib but the pain is now more behind the sternum and at about he same height in my back. Infact the back pain seems to be there all the time, right on my spine.

I had an endoscopy on Tuesday last week and they said I had a 5cm Slider, would this cause the back pain I have been having, I've looked on the net for symtoms of HH but see nothing about back pain.

I dont see my consultant until next Wednesday so no nothing about the HH apart from they found one and it was 5cm, they also found small polyps in my stomach which they removed (im 31 yrs old)

I've also had colonoscopy, ultra sound and CT

Hi thats interesting as I also suffer exactly the same pain but I havnt been to the doctors yet. I gave up smoking about 12 months ago and gained 3 stone. I was massively over eating and feeling very bloated after meals and belching like crazy. The abdonimal pain (doesnt feel like indegestion more like cramp) started about three months ago and would wake me up at night. This pain now goes through to the centre of my back. Im due to see the doctor about it next week. (im 36 yrs). The pain is worse in the morning , and agrevated by eating. Im fairly sure its a hiatus hernia causing it all as it only started when I ut on weight and seems very food related. I do sometimes get a feeling of food getting stuck in the same place as the pain which is at the bottom of my rib cage at the front.

Yes sounds very similiar to me, the only other thing I had concerns about was my Pancreas as I know this can cause back pain , hopefully it is just the Hernia. I have suffered from reflux for the last 10 yrs but that was it just acid coming up my throat at night never pain.

The pain came competely out of the blue and the only thing I find strange is that when you lookup HH on the internet it mentions nothing about back pain, only goes on about reflux

My HH is 5cm not sure what that mean (lengh or diam) is 5cm big enough to cause such issues.
