    Hi Sheena,

I was diagnosed with 3 Hiatus hernias. Was referred to a surgeon who said he seen no need to do mesh surgery..maybe because Im 65 . He didn't say..just said it wasn't necessary. But we all know for a fact that hernias don't go away on their own and only get larger. I think he's doing a thing called 'watchful waiting', which in essence means waiting until they strangulate. ugh.

I wondered if you ever experienced pain in the form of sharp jabs rather than steady pain. Ive had steady pain before but not overwhelming pain but just enough to make it really annoying and scary in a way. The sharp jabs of pain that come about every 20 seconds are even scarier. Do you ever have these?

I have the sharp have. They are on the right above my breastbone or right around there. My hernia is behind my breast bone. I hate it and it hurts quite a bit. I wonder why I have it.

I hate it too. It's some kind of pain every day . With me it all seemed to begin when I had an ulcer in my stomach that perforated.

I bet that was painful. They are sending me to a rheumatologist I tested positive for high inflammation and positive ANA for an autoimmune disease. I hope they figure out what it is.
