Hiatus Hernia, brand new symptom for me, related??

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed in December with a 4cm sliding hiatus hernia which caused acid reflux. I was put on 30mg Lansoprazole which have been a god send with regards to the acid. The hernia itself never caused me any issues or discomfort but I do wonder if it has now.... the last 24hrs have been challenging to say the least. I'm a 31yr old male. Yesterday afternoon I was laying in the garden and had a full nerve like achey feeling in between my shoulder blades, over the next 5hrs this pain got worse, moved to my left shoulder and top of arm, then it moved to the centre of my chest where it would stay and get worse to the point I've never felt pain like it, and I've broken several bones! A paramedic came to see me after a call to NHS Direct and he confirmed no cardiac problems which was s relief. After he left the pain then went into my right shoulder where I can still feel it a bit now and it hurts the centre of my chest when I try to take a deep breath in. Has anyone else experienced this with a hiatus hernia? Thank you, mike

My grandmother suffered with an hiatus hernia. For a long time before it was actually diagnosed she was often taken into hospital suffering ' a cardiac arrest,' It was her hernia reacting to eggs. especially of she had a fried egg it would give the symptoms and she would be in terrific pain. My mother-in-law had a reaction to lamb , she would be violently sick for a couple of days. Several foods affected my Uncle's hernia yet they didn't trouble him if he ate them between bread and butter e.g he couldn't eat lettuce with a salad but was ok if he made a sandwich of the lettuce. I know medicine has improved over the years but at the time food made these symptoms so real.

I appreciate your reply, thank you. It really felt like something terrible, it's better today but still very much present. Pain killers are taking the edge off. I'm hoping it eases off and goes soon, painful every time I breathe in deep. Should it not improve I have notes from the paramedic to take into the hospital
