Hiatus Hernia newbie

Hi Guys,

My first post. Im a 40yo male from Australia, bit overweight but generally healthy, eat well most the time, non smoker. Just got back hospital getting checked for heart problem (which I knew it wasn't) after side pain in ribs and sometimes in chest. I am 100% sure I have a hiatus hernia, which has run in my family. Symptoms include -

Rib Pain

Chest Pain

Heart Flutters

GERD

Anxiety

I've had the pain in ribs for years but always put it down to muscular problems. The GERD has really hit hard last few days which along with the chest pain sent my anxiety through roof! A few questions for those that have this problem..

  1. As it has got bad last few days at the same time as anxiety could it be a flare up and it may settle down?

  2. Ive been panicking about strangled hernia, should I be? Or is this extreme circumstances?

  3. Has anyone cured it without surgery?

  4. I recently changed up what I have for lunch, had some spicy sausages etc, would that be enough along with the anxiety to flare it up?

Any other advice for a newbie? Feel really down atm about the whole situation.

Many Thanks
