Over the past few days i have been getting sharp pains in my chest and back mainly when swallowing food or drinking. Does anybody suffer this problem aswell as the pain is quite bad .

I have taken 20mg 2x a day for the past 5 years.  I had a bone density done 56 years ago and have had one done every year since as of January 11th i am off the omeprazole.  I now have been diagnosed with osteopenia. This is not good.  I found out that omeprazole deprives you of B12 and other nutirents.  I have on my own been taking B12 shots for the past year.  Getting off of the omeprazole has not been easy.  The bouts with heart burn have been bad.  I was prescribed Omeprazole because  I have been diagnoised with Barretts.  I am looking to natural means to correct my heartburn.  By the way since taking Omeprazole I now have a  hiadal hernia.  Now on Renitidine for the past 3 days i have had a couph.  Research before taking prescribed meds.

Hi Andy I want to correct a couple of boo boos made on my reply to you I meant to type 5 to 6 years not 56 years.  Omeprazole have so many side effects its been tough getting off of the Omeprazole but I am determined to stay away from  acid blocker.  Taking Omeprazole brought on the Osteopenia.  Hope all goes well for you

Every day after 5pm, will have heartburn, sometimes epigastric area will cramp and pain and other sickness... My doctor suggest me to go for surgery repair it or i maybe will develop esophagus cancer future if i just let it burn and pain. I wonder izzit surgery is the last option to cure it?
