HIDA Scan Finally Completed Result Times??

Some people it seems hard to get one but my consultant wanted to do one pretty quick even though my other scans were pretty normal
It went pretty well bar being bored, and then the white stuff you drink to make your gall bladder contract wasn't very nice at all mind !
Based UK
I wondered how others fared if they got a surgery date, how quickly they got their results and so on 😃

Hi Stevie, I was the same, I'd had lots of tests and as they all came back as normal the next logical step was a HIDA scan which came back as abnormal. This was just before xmas 2016 and I had my gallbladder removed 1st March 2017. My surgeon would've done it sooner but wasn't available until then. I had an appointment with the surgeon in early Jan then a pre assessment appointment in February. I had my date come through for the pre assessment before my date for surgery!
I hope you get a date through soon. I remember its good to finally have a diagnosis for being in pain.
Let me know how you get on.

Yeah I had a lot of these many years ago and not as bad Doctors thought I was mad then so didn't pursue.
Then a few years it got really bad really quick, can't fault the one I am seeing now actually he is almost certain it is but wants the tests just to confirm it and even the HIDA scan that stuff they give you made it flip but managed to stay still just want the results now !
I suppose that makes sense really he normally contacts me most weeks anyway so might find out then thank you for your time 😃

had mines on the monday then saw GP 2 days later and already had results there. So i knew gallbladder wasn't functioning properly. Had appt with surgeon about 2 weeks after the scan and was put on waiting list for surgery. Ended up admitted with cholecystitis a couple of days after that though so never had to wait on waiting list as had surgery within the week. Good luck!! xx

That's really good timing then really ! Wonder if it falls a bit to luck or how ill you are, one episode I was in for four days which really wasn't fun just before Christmas !
I think that is the worry as well but I've already collapsed (before a HIDA scan actually this is when I wasn't admitted) so already pretty unwell leaving it a bit too long so shall see at that point I want the answers haha Thank you

Depends on the area you live in. I still have my gallbladder (long story) but when i was referred to have it out i waited 3 months to see the surgery team and was told it would be about a 2 month wait for surgery.
I had a HIDA in November and had my results after 3 weeks, but did have to push to be seen.
Stevie a gastro that contacts you most weeks? I think he must fancy you😍
