Hidradenitis suppurativa and cows milk.

hi had HS for about 16 years and have always had suspicions about it being food related because years ago i was told not to have cows milk well after cutting it out completly my lumps which years ago were quite small and undiagnosed cleared up, whilst on hols in Blackpool a health expert told me that usually you can slowly introduce the food back into your body, so i did not having any idea at the time that it could have anything to do with my lumps. years have past my lumps were diagnosed as HS the specialists saying it is nothing to do with food allergies but how can they say this when no one knows why you get it or how to treat it. So I did my own research and this is what i have learnt about my body. When under stress my lumps play up when having cows milk my lumps play up. I booked a week of work to just chill out so there was absolutely no stress however I ate and drank food with milk in and by the end of the week all my previous lumps filled up and opened. So now yet again I'm back on soya milk and cutting out any food with cows milk in it, all my lumps have gone down and feeling great. We know our own body more than anyone so listen to it. Please be aware though that this may not be the case for others as we are all different.

Just for me, I havent drunk milk in 25 years, or milk products. They give me IBS, Only thing I have is once a week cheese pizza. Ocassional piece of cake for birthdays.

For me I think it is sugar in the cakes and candy. I have gone also a year without an outbreak.

If I feel like one restarts in a wounded area, I apply baking soda and water to the area it removes the sting and the area calms down. It has been pretty good for a year now.

    hi,

im lactose intolerant which is different to having any allergy to milk. lactose intolerance is caused by lack of an enzymes that helps digest and break down the sugar in milk. If you have an allergy to milk then it is recommended not to have soy as both cows milk and soy have a protein which people who have an allergy struggle to brake down the protein. Soy may feel okay to begin with however over time and build up could end up with similar symptoms to cows milk. Almond and macadamian milk would be a healthier option, something to look into. Some people maybe lactose and have a dairy allergy, this may then include cheese. Also if you have lactose intolerance soy could cause bloating if it contains tofu.

research ive found on dairy and hs - below are cut and paste

Milk and other dairy products may raise levels of certain hormones that lead to hidradenitis suppurativa symptoms. Cow's milk may also cause inflammation.

Eliminating dairy products. Milk, cheese and other dairy products can raise insulin levels. This leads to the overproduction of hormones called androgens, which play a role in hidradenitis suppurativa. Removing dairy from your diet might reduce the number of new lesions that develop and lessen symptoms of hidradenitis suppurativa.

Eating less sugar. When combined with moderate exercise, limiting foods with added sugars and syrups, such as sodas, cereals and candy, might reduce your insulin levels and ease the symptoms of hidradenitis suppurativa.

Avoiding foods containing brewer's yeast. Brewer's yeast is an ingredient that helps bakery products, such as bread, pizza dough and cake, to rise. Avoiding products with brewer's yeast might help promote the healing of skin lesions.

Sleep deprivation also increases inflammation so it is a vicious circle, and getting proper is just as important as your hidradenitis suppurativa diet.

    hope this helps anyone reading
