High albamin/creatine and GFR of 60

My husband's lab tests just came back and show that he has a albumin/creatine level of 58 and a GFR of >60. we haven't heard from the doctor yet and are concerned. Is this stage 2 kidney disease? If so, can he do anything to improve it?

He has high bp that he has under very good control and is otherwise very healthy.

thanks.

The online [National Kidney Foundation GFR calculator] that can provide many of the answers you need. You can run the calculator and see how different factors influence the result. Of course its hard to get younger.

Definitely read the fine print. From the web page "In the absence of evidence of kidney damage, neither GFR category G1 nor G2 fulfill the criteria for CKD."

see a kidney dietitian they can help you with foods. foods are very important at this time along with a good diet and no salt . stay out of the interior of the grocery store all box foods have way to much salts and other ingredients not good for a struggling kidney. only shop fresh foods. stay away from cokes, drink lots of water 12-16 oz per day to help the kidney flush out toxicants. there are cook books also available and facebook groups that discuss many good recipes. its a small change to make to keep the kidneys happy for longer periods .

also a lot of good docs on you tube with all kind of helpful advice. my hub has been in stage 3 kidney disease with diabetes and heart disease for 10 years. the goal is to control the kidney with foods medications and light exercise. avoid dialysis as long as possible. once dialysis begins its not good long term . take one day at a time remember its important to eat a kidney friendly diet will help to feel better think clearer and function .
