High anxiety having trouble sleeping and nerves feels charged

Hi All
It’s the first time I have posted in this section so looking for some advice, I am UK based.
I have recently been going through a bit of tuff time recently, had some organ illness (under GP guidance) , over the last couple of months, I feel over the majority of that main issue, but some other stuff, has also emerged, which has turned into high stress and anxiety, which is coming out in my body, which then making me more stressed, muscle stiffness, lack of energy etc. I need to break the cycle somehow, but need assistance. I have never spoken with a GP about anxiety and shortly after the other organ thing, I don't want them thinking it's all in my head etc.
First thing, I am having trouble quality sleeping at night, when I go to drop off to sleep, it’s like there is a surge of adrenaline to which suddenly builds and buzzes and I jerk and wake up, (I think these are called hypnotic jerks), but they are getting quite frequent now and more bigger. Usually I never had any issues sleeping prior to this episode. I asked the chemist for something, they issued Promethazine Hydrochloride for sleeping, which works ok, but when it wears off I am finding it difficult to get back to sleep again easily. I can’t keep taking that each night.
My resting heart rate is high always in the 90’s bpm, though before this episode it was always in 60’s/70’s bpm. It also feels like there is a small electric current flowing through my nerves, a bit like slight temor, (it’s not physical noticeable), I can only describe this like when you get really hungry and get some shakes, it’s similar, so this does affect my muscles and energy.
Though prior to this episode I have Allodynia, slightly heightened nerve sensitivity, but that was manageable as was fairly low, now it's very much heightened. I have never been on anti-depressants, but coming to the idea I might have to at some point, I would say before this illness episode, I wasn’t the most calm of people, (minor anxiety), used to get worried about small things etc, but I got through ok, now the anxiety is certainly prolonged and very heightened and just wondering what options are out there to get my body into the calm state going forward, I realize this may have to be medication related, but am prepared for that.
Thanks for reading and Happy Easter to you all.

yeah i would definitely go see your gp and explain to them all your symptoms he will probably give you a antidepressant. Good luck

Hi Cheryl
Many thanks for the advice.
After some research I think Ciprofloxacin is to blame for the majority of the symptoms. I should of never taken it.
I'm hoping these will ease, but it's certainly anxiety based & have a holiday day booked next week, which hoping will help before a GP visit.
