Well you certainly don't have much time to get the BP under control. My husband is having a similar problem at the moment. He was put on a new BP medication, had it rechecked at the doctor's office one month later. The dose was then increased and he will go back in another month. Do you have a BP monitor at home? We do and my BP is always several points lower at home than it is at the doctor's office. Perhaps you are suffering from white coat syndrome?

Eat low carbohydrate foods, that reduces the amount of insulin your body is having to pump out which then allows your kidneys to release water and sodium which will lower your blood pressure. Ie no grains or starchy vegetables fruit etc. be careful if your diabetic on meds

Hi there. I too have high blood pressure and my doc increased my meds to be sure it was under control before my op. Problem was, my date got postponed twice whicg meant I was taking a higher dose for longer than planned. I also bought a BP monitor from Boots the chemist for £20 and recorded  my BP at different times to show the hospital when I went in for the op. Thankfully it was ok, around 145/95 which isn't ideal but manageable. Think it was helpful to do this as some of us suffer from the 'white coat syndrome' where our BP rises because we're anxious when visiting our doctors!

    I'm on Vezarim and Lisinopril.

By the way, they drop your BP when you have the surgery, well my anaethetist did. Safer I spose.

I had my new hip on the 20th Aug in Crewe and am recovering really well, using only one crutch now fpr stability!

Best thing you'll do is having that new hip!

Good luck, remember to let us know how you got on!!👍🏼😊

    Hiya guys, 😁

Well on paper I'm in on the 5th October for the THR, blood pressure and things haven't been on my side. They got me booked in at doctors Friday at 8am for update on blood pressure and also check my weight ??

They still positive I'll be in on the 5th, I'm starting to think it might be best to hold back a little, just doesn't feel right, I got a lot of other things going around and around, I'm certainly no mentally ready for next week, like I said got lots going on, but this also could be a good thing, iie distracting me from what's going on, just thought I'd as if others thought I should be holding back or just go with the flow...

    🤔😆😆

Monkeypearl, do you want to hold back because you are scared of the op? Look, if you cancel you might have to wait some time to get another appointment, they have your medical history therefore can compensate for it. The more you worry about the operation the more your blood pressure will go up.

If you cancel now, next time you may find another excuse to cancel.

Just think, by Christmas you will be pain free and walking without support. I would say, have it done, then it is finished with, you will wonder why you hesitated. Loads of luck, not that you will need it.

Monkeypearl, have you cooked and frozen some meals, if not I would it helps. Make sure you organise a table (on wheels if poss.) near your bed to put magazines, tv controls on, to occupy yourself. Pots, pans and any other cooking devices close to hand, if necessary, on the work surface, you will not be able to bend down to cupboards. Look around, anything you use regular make sure it is high enough to reach.

Loads of luck for friday. 😊👍

The two things I found most useful were my grabber, number one, and a loop thing given by the hospital to get my op leg in and out of bed. My sister looked after me for the first week. She decided to spring clean the house which nearly drove me mad and also to take me out to lunch the day after I got home from hospital, possibly a bit ambitious but it was nice to get out.
