HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND FALLS

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had high BP for many years which was well controlled until August

2020. My dosage of Lisinopril was then increased from 20mg to 40 mg

and the water tablet Benodriazide stopped.

On 31st August 2020 I collapsed and was in hospital for 3 nights. The

cause they concluded was a sudden drop in BP when I stood up

Since August 2020 I have had three further falls and despite changes in my blood pressure medicines my condition has worsened..

I have difficulty standing up.

I feel unstable sometimes when standing up.

I have no physical strength.

I find difficult to even dress myself.

I am fatigued all the time.

If I am on the floor I am unable to get up unaided.

I have not gained weight but my waist is bigger and

my stomach feels hard.

I am now awaiting hospital appointments with the Neurology and

Cardiology Teams.

Because of Covid there are long delays in obtaining appointments.

Researching the internet is very confusing.

I am aged 65 with high blood pressure. Is there any guidance on

the appropriate medications for my condition?

What medication is best for lowering BP without causing a sudden huge

drop in BP.?

In my case should the target be higher than 120/80 say 150/90??

I would appreciate any advice or help you can offer

Thanks

Steve
