good morning ... it is a side effect - I have high bloodpressure and am taking meds for it - sometimes changing the Nsaid might help - if you can do without, do so - it is better of course - How will it effect your surgery?

I have to go on a 24 hour monitor next week so hopefully BP will be down if caused by NSAIDS. Why do doctors hand out these tabs without warning patients to get BP checkedregularly!!!!!

Hi do you know what your blood pressure readings are? I have just had the same experience but challeneged the reading(s). Pre-admission assessment for a THR is quite stressful and unless they took a few readings over the course of a couple of hours they won't be accurate. I returned to the GP and had 3 separate daily readings done and faxed over to the hospital. Blood pressure readings aren't an exact science. Highest hospital reading 173/83; lowest GP reading 117/77. I think the 24 hour monitor will tell the true story! Good luck

    Hi Attractac,

I have just read your post and I did'nt realise nsaids could elevate bp, I was on anti depressants for 18 months and i had high bp levels, i have never suffered from high bp before my gp put me on bp meds which once started you have to  take for life!! anyway I also take naproxin for hip pain, but since i stopped the anti depressants my bp seems to be going down, my gp told me to buy a pb machine and take readings every morning 2 readings 1 min apart and the same at night, so now I have all mt reading to hand whenever I go to the hospital, I will definitely ask my surgeon 2morro about my nsaids, good luck with your recovery,

    regards,

    Lynne.

Im only guessing that the nsaids are causing my very high bp. Im off them now for 10 days and will see how my bp is when i get 24 hour monitor. I am missing them tho as I am back to previous level of stiffness but will suufer that rather than raised BP.
