I don't know about vertigo, but when I first was diagnosed with high blood pressure, I had a constant feeling of being "out of the present"  "out of the conversation" like an on-looker.  It was a very weird feeling.

If you arise quickly, you may feel this sensation. However, if you experience vertigo much more frequently it would be wise to seek medical advice. For example, a problem within the middle ear can cause similar symptoms.

Although very high blood pressure can cause symptoms such as headache, I haven't heard of anyone talking in terms of vertigo. If you are taking medication, that could be the culprit. Also, have you had your ears checked recently? If not then perhaps it would be wise to do so. See your GP to rule out other possible causes.

Hi Alison, yes, I seem to have developed vertigo since I've had high blood pressure, but I have to admit, it's been a lot better since I've started walking an hour and a half every day, I would get dizzy spells and sometimes lose my balance, but the walking is definately helping. 👍

Thankyou to all that replied. I went to the drs originally with the woozy head symptoms and thats when he found my blood pressure is still high.

Im on 10mg ramipril he has now added amlodipine 5 mg.

How long does it take for these meds to work?
