High bp and surgery...

Hi

Im in to have surgery ive been waiting for since oct16. After pre-op yesterday my bp was 159/109 but later after it was 140/100

Been told that if its high on day they wont do surgery.

Been put on cozzar n started them yesterday. Are they fast working??

Anything i can do to help it along??

    Katie, it can take up to a week for blood pressure pills to show they are working to reduce high BP.  It can also depend on the dose they have started you on.  The usual recommended starting dose for patients often has to be increased to get the best results.  Sit tight and relax - the obvious stress of imminent surgery is probably enough to increase most people's blood pressure!  Hopefully all will be well and your op will go ahead.  Good luck with that, too.

    Easier said than done but try to relax. Sounds like 'White coat'.  All the best and hope they go ahead with the op.
