Dale,
Why would cholesterol delay your op? Not aware they tested mine, if they did they did not say anything.

They did not test mine although they tested lots of other things.

if it was super high they may would order an Echo to see how blocked your arteries are. They would not want a cardiac problem during the operation. I was not tested before my operation but my Cholesterol, LDL and HDL levels were known

The surgery team might just be adopting a risk averse strategy.
There is some evidence that high cholesterol levels can increase the potential for a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombisis).
DVT is also a particular post-operative consequence in hip and knee surgery - hence the dreaded surgical stockings recommended by some post-surgery care teams. (I was lucky to have an enlightened team after my THR 2 years ago and was prescribed the Heparin-type self-injection protocol instead of the stockings)
If you are concerned then talk to your consultant and ask specifically why they have decided to delay your op.

Thanks everyone.
I'm just being a bit paranoid as the hospital have asked for a repeat cholesterol test. I'm now assuming it is part of a risk assessment as I have Atrial Fibrillation and my blood pressure was a bit high (white coat syndrome) at the pre op assessment last week.
No doubt I'll find out more after the results.

Definitely better to be safe than sorry, are you on meds for the cholesterol if not they will probably put you on a low dose of statins, it as you say will be part of their risk assessment before your op, have you any other things that they are looking at
My friends BP went up before hers and they got her to come back the Friday before, was still a little high than normal but they went ahead because her doctor confirmed that she did indeed suffer with white coat syndrome
Her BP was so low after she was dizzy
Mind she's dizzy anyway 😂
Let us know how you get on
