High cholesterol, don't know why.

Hi, I'm new to this and worried.

I took part in medical research on the 17th Dec and found my cholesterol was 8.74mmol/L ( HdL 0.96, blood pressure 140/90). I'm 39, 6'2", 94kg, 24% body fat, waist 93cm which is 49% of height. I exercise, I've just done a 10 mile mud fun run, in 90 minutes, i was training for 4 months 3 times a week, between 8 and 12km at 5min20s/km each session. I'm now doing a lot of rowing. I used to be an international athlete, so always been active and fit.

I don't eat meat, but probably too much cheese. My diet isn't the best but 5 days a week meals are homemade.

I've got omega3 oil coming tomorrow to start taking, I've started trying to get my body fat down to under 20% in the short term, closer to 15% in the long term.

So, should i be worried? should i be doing something else? I've contacted my GP to explain and ask for another test in 2 months.

thanks for any advice.
