High Crp marker feel very ill

Hi I've been feeling poorly for quite a while. Went to Drs and he said I had an ear infection. Took antibiotics then still felt ill. I've had a pressure feeling in my head just around my right ear. I've had a few falls where for no apparent reason I've just fallen backwards (it's always backwards I fall). I have been getting very share pains in my my big toes and chest pains that are worse when I'm laying down. Dr run a few blood tests then the next day he called me saying my crp marker is 108 and should be under 5, He said I must have an infection in my body Yet I've just finished a course of antibiotics. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in 4 weeks. But I've been getting progressively worse, I'm finding if I go out and it's warm then it causes me massive weakness, I have this weird rash appear on my cheeks and across my nose and now my legs are not working properly they feel weird when I walk like my knees aren't working with them. I still have this chest pain. I worry too because I'm recovering from cancer but my Dr assured me the crp marker is nothing to do with cancer. I'm just not sure I can put up with this pain for another 4 weeks until i get seen. Ive never had to rely on anyone and yet some days I can't even walk so a friend has been taking my children to school, I never even did that throughout all my chemos for cancer .. but this is like I'm in some sort of flare up I'll have a good day then suddenly bam it's like I've been hit by a bus and can't do anything for days. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on.

I do also know I'm low vit B12 but gp not said what we are doing about that yet. My esr marker was 32

Aw, Kelly, you're really not well, are you. Contact your Rheumy. Don't wait 4 weeks. Sometimes I've needed 4 lots of antibiotics when I've had an infection because my immune system has been so compromised by my drugs for my arthritis. Please contact your Rheumy and I hope you start feeling better very soon. Carol x

    Hi Kelly,

So sorry to hear you are so poorly, I agree with Carol contact rheumatology probably best to ask to speak to the consultants secertary and if that doesn't work go back to GP and tell him you can't wait. I am very surprised he hasn't treated you with such elevated inflamation markers, you are presenting definitley with one of the autoimmune rheumatolgy conditions of which there are many. I am no doctor but have  been down this road, sounds very much like PMR the rash across your cheeks sound Lupus related.

Try not to worry they are all treatable but you need to be seen. if only for your own peace of mind.

    Good luck Linda x

    HI Kelly

sorry to hear you are feeling so miserable.  Agree with others on here--need to see rhuem. sooner or see if GP will order another week of antibiotics.   Lupus has a rash on the face that you mentioned.   You didn't list your initial diagnosis or what medication you are currently taking

Let us know how things work out for you after speaking with the office.   You need to be a strong advocate for yourself!

      Hello

I don't have any diagnosis, Many years ago ideas under a rhuem for frozen shoulder painful hips and knees.. then I got breast cancer and we kinda just put everything else on hold, so I'm 3 years on from my cancer had surgery chemo and rads. And I've been in constant pain and for a good 2 years my dr kept telling me it's the after affects of chemo but no one was doing any real checks. A few weeks ago I fell backwards for no reason, started getting horrendous headaches and aching all over ... have sheer exhaustion despite resting. So I went back to Drs and asked for blood tests.. that's when next day he called saying my CRP marker and esr marker were raised. My crp was 108 and ear was 38 not that I have a clue what all this means. My B12 is low but nothing been mentioned for treating that. I was sent to hospital as they suspected a clot .. had ct scan and no clot so was sent home and been home ever since hospital when I was their said they would refer me to a rhuem which is what they have done but in the meantime I'm still left for the next 4 weeks with pain and chest pains and barely able to function. My mum and Aunt have Lupus not sure whether it could be something like this. I just don't know.

      Medication I'm on is tamoxifen

      Levothyroxine (I have hypothyroidism)

      I am also celiac.

      Thanks for reading

      Well Kelly,

You already have autoimmune disease so there is a good chance that you now have a rheumatoid problem, as once you get one ie hypothyroid as time goes by you tend to get others, I cannot believe your GP hasn't treated you with your inflammatory markers being so high, its not for me to say I know but I am sure many others reading your blog are astounded, keep your chin up.

      Hi Kelly, it's Carol again!

?CRP is just an inflammatory marker. It is non specific and will be elevated if there is any inflammation anywhere. It could be due to your joints. It could be due to your ear infection. Or, a combination of both. Mine was 81 in Feb but is now down to 4.5 (Yeah!) My hubby's was 330 last year when he had sepsis, so you can see there's quite a range.  I suspect the 38 may be your temperature due to your ear infection? May be affecting your balance? So it's no wonder you're feeling poorly and I do feel for you trying to mange your children as well. It's so hard. But, you will get better! I would suggest you phone your Rheumy first thing tomorrow and ask them to call you back if no one can speak to you there and then and make an urgent appointment for your GP. If you need to keep chasing up the Rheumy, do so. Good luck x
