High eye pressure and internal shaking

Hi,

I've been on 7.5mg mirtazapine for over two months now after a break of two months and it's been ok apart from getting flashes of light in my eyes at least couple of times a day (which I had checked and the dr said I now have a higher pressure in the eyes which may cause it) and in the last week I have developed something that I remember one of my doctors described as being conected to the mains (something you may expect as a side effect from mirtazapine). I didn't have any other symptoms which could indicate anxiety but now I started to worry as I'm about to travel with my little son. I also feel like there is some pressure in my head as my ears hurt sometimes and the tinnitus (potentialy caused by mirtazapine withdrawal that went wrong) is louder. Please can you let me know if you've experienced something like that?

Many thanks

I was on and off, lately I've been diagnosed with a disease that needs a long treatment so I've decided to stay on it until I'm well and able to handle withdrawal. I know it's bad. I dread to even think. But I hope it won't be long for you!

    HI 1980

I too havent had the best experience with Mirtazapine, pressure in the head, tinnitus, lightheadedness. almost a head 'lag' feeling.

I am a dual medication regime with Lexapro & Mirtazapine but I clearly know the Mirtazapine has caused these side effects.

From all accounts we must withdraw very slowly and in Australia we can use a compund chemist to make up small doses to withdraw slowly.

I agree with you about your symptoms and I feel for you.

Move slowly with whatever decision you make.

I forgot to say 1980 that I also feel like I am plugged into the mains with internal trembling like an idling car. You are definetly not alone.

Thank you very much Sue. Did you get your side effects right away or after a period of time? I've been taking it for over two months this time (after an unsuccessful withdrawal that lasted 2 months mirtazapine free) and the internal tremor started a week or so ago. The tinnitus started after the last withdrawal in May (as a result of changing doses up and down and then an abrupt stop) and never left me but I think it's worse now with the pressure in the whole head. But trembling comes from my gut. I checked my blood pressure today and it's 112/65 when it used to be 90/60 and tge puls higher too. It's a very hard decision now as it did help with eating and sleep and it will be a huge struggle if I stop it.

      So sad with this all.
