High lipase

Hi: this is my story. Doing blood tests for something else they found out I had high lipase. I waited a week and did the test again and it had doubled to 600. I got a call to go to the hospital. They did a blood test , the next morning and it was down some. They did a ultrasound and found nothing.they suspected gallstones but there was none. Iwas very stressed imaging i had cancer. They did CT scan and found nothing. I was overjoyed. But I still have the high lipase. They are sending me for a scan to see if the ducts are narrowing. But the Doctor told me the reality is that sometimes doctors can not find answers. I have very little pain, just some stomach pain from stress thinking about this. haha. No other symptoms.i was wondering if anyone else has high lipase without explanation. Thank you

With pancreatitis ruled out one has to look elsewhere as to reason you have high lipase.  There are quite a few reasons from what I read including the following; Crohn's disease;  inflammatory bowel disease; ulcerative colitiscoeliac disease, renal issues and more.

Basically it boils down to ensuring your doc looks beyond pancreatitis and not let it slide as one of life's mysteries.  I wouldn't panic just ensure you get comprehensive tests besides those for pancreatitis.  Get a referral to a specialist if you aren't comfortable with the outcome of your next test.

I have also high lipase, in Dec. 2016 it was 132 this lab reference  13-60

In May 2017 my lipase serum lower, but still high, it was 100

i have not had any pain, only my blood sugar occasionally elevated, I have control it by a low carbs

diet. I have done many tests and they haven’t show any reason for that.

i have found in Jurnal of Clinical & Diagnostic Research abstract on “Gullo’s syndrome”

According to them there is no risk for pancreatitis episode and knowledge of this entity is crucial as it could prevent performance of complex and multiple diagnostic investigations.

i’m doing well, and stopped worry about this.

I don’t have high lipase but have chronic pancreatitis due from a congenital abnormality called Pancreas Divseam (born with two pancreatic ducts that never fused into one). I had a regular ultrasound and endoscopy come back normal as well as my blood tests. None of my tests caught my two pancreatic ducts except the MRCP. I did have a CT Enterography catch atrophy of my pancreas but not the two ducts (which is a different type of CT then a regular one). I just want to inform you, certain tests don’t show everything. Pancreas Divseam is rare but unless you’re under a specialist care, the doctors won’t know what to look for.
