High PSA and elevating - 3 negative Biopsies and 2 negative 3T MRI's

Has anyone heard or experienced this?  I am 58, good shape, PSA at 11, having gone up from under 4 over the last 5 years.  Three negative biopsies and 2 negative MRI's.  Any thoughts?  Similar experiences?  Urulogists can'r explain it and have suggesyed another "random" biopsy.  Why do that if the MRI's cannot even locate a problem????  Thanks

Hello frank40581!  Instead of getting another biopsy, how about another urologist? Could be anything from an overproduction of antibodies against the antigen to a paradoxical reaction.  I wouldn't have a fourth biopsy until you've had a consultation with a different urologist.  Hope this helps.

I agree. I would wait as far as another biopsy. At least if you have to have one then try to get the MRI guided type so they don't need to take as many samples. I hope you feel better soon.

I have the same issue.  56 y/o and exercise 5-7 days a week.  Elevated PSA since 2013.  2 Biopsies, one targeted surgical, indicate no cancer.  I've also had 2 MRIs. I'm due back for a checkup but I'm also like...what's the point?...I expect my PSA will still be elevated.  I do take testosterone supplements.

I experienced high PSA for a number of years. Sometimes as high as 22. Four negative biopsies over a 7 yr period. Since I also had BPH symptoms that continued to get worse I eventually had to do something. Urologist advised a Turp, but I opted for PAE one year ago. All my BPH problems are now gone and PSA dropped to 1.9. So obviously high PSA can be simply related to an enlarged prostate.

Absolutely, this is why the PSA test isn't advised. I have an enlarged prostate as well and I can make a prediction as to what PSA would be. If one is worried about cancer then a DRE and a PCA3 test would be the way I would go.

I had PSA of 9.8 with a 75grm prostate prior to my PVP in 2006. After the procedure it only came down to 5.0. As my prostate regrew to 132 grm my PSA went up to 7.8 and I had a Thulium/Holmium laser procedure in 2013. My PSA is now 0.74. Strange that it came down more with one procedure than the other.

My father had a high psa teens and up for more than 10 years. Multiple biopsies all came back negative. Dr. Never requested further testing until Oct of 2015 when my dad's PSA jumped from a 20 to over 200...two weeks later 500... two weeks after that over 900 and about a week after that it rose over 5300. The Dr immediately sent him for MRI, CT and

Bone scans. His prostate cancer was confirmed with a bone marrow biopsy. Stage 4, with bone and organ involvement. Started with chemo and hormone injections immediately. We traveled to find more suitable Dr's for him. His psa started dropping drastically. A couple month ago, his psa started to rise again slowly, so his Dr started him on zytiga which has dropped his psa down to .87! I've said all this to say please consider further testing. It could be and hopefully is nothing. My father walked around for over 10 years with an extremely high psa and Dr's unwilling to do more extensive testing. And the cancer has yet to be seen in the prostate, however, the bone marrow biopsy confirmed prostate cancer cells. Best of luck
