Hio replacement dislocation

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have had a THR on both hips. The most recent one was done in 2017, which dislocated at beginning of May.

Knew that there would always be a risk of a dislocation, but after 4 years it was a shock. I always thought it would happen following a fall. In my case, it was from working in the garden using a kneeler and then attempting to get up.

Getting the run around by healthcare professionals, as physical therapy booklet says up to GP to make decision about driving etc, but GP says it is up to physiotherapists.

Interested to know others experiences.

very sorry to hear you had to go thru the dreaded hip dislocation. all of us hippies are with you on this one. it could be any of us in the same situation. very hard to cope with especially since primary surgery was 2017. how long has it been since dislocation occurred?

who did you see after the dislocation? any gp would ask or xray i would think to check for damage... were there any did any tests taken at that time. how long since dislocation? i would never depend on a physical therpist to make any judgement like that. they are not doctors or know enough to treat without a doctors order on type of treatment where to apply psio . The doctor will likely recommend limits in hip motion for several weeks. Are you using walking aids, such as crutches, walkers, or canes, to assist with walking.or raking anti inflammatories also ice and rest.

can you contact the surgeon and ask about possible xray and or mri for soft tissue damage before any decision is made on what you are cleared to do. it is at risk to happen again if restrictions are not applied to your healing evaluation by a physician . it would seem to me there would be a few weeks of healing before allowing certain movements . example after hip surgery 6-8weeks before driving. that is a different set of rules after surgery. once dislocation usually after time a revision is required if not handled cautiously at this stage.. be especially careful with all you do for awhile as soft tissue takes a longer period to heal. using reachers for bending and sitting on higher chairs keeping hips out of the angle danger zone. no sitting in lower garden seats while in the garden only on knees its the getting up that can cause dislocations. from knees use a wheel barrow to get up no twisting or something you can lean over to lift knees up and forward. ask therapy for assistance for this movement.

let us know how you are doing .

i am recovering from a slip on ice and fell like the splits, tore the IT Band and knee injury in one hip.. i have had three hip joint surgeries . so on bed rest for a month. not a pro at hip recoveries but always here for support.
