Hip and groin pain

Hi I've been suffering with pain in my groin and hip/thigh for all most a year now seen the doctor last year has a steroid injection but did nothing been to see phiso he thinks it's a hip impingement so he referred me to see the hip doctor at the hospital well that was a waste off time as he things its to do with muscles but still sent me for an MRI scan still waiting for my results. I'm kind off hoping it shows something as the pain gets me down most days I'm only 30 and have 3 young children who love playing on the floor witch I'm finding it difficult doing. The pain all so gets worse after sitting for a long period of time or walking long distance I'm so fed up now I just wish the pain would do one the pain has even had me in tears its that bad I do have good days where it's not to bad then I have not so good days where I find it hard getting out off bed if anyone knows what it might be please let me know thanks for your time

My pain began all of a sudden, afterusing an excercize bike indoors.doctor said it was HIP BURSITIS gave me a steroid injection, which made no difference. I go to physio but too painful. Waiting for hydro pool app. I control pain by taking 8 lots of cocodomal plus naproxine twice per day. X-ray showed arthritic hip so am waiting for a total hip replacement.  I already have had my right hip done in 2007 and this had the effect of relieving me of all pain.

hope u get some help with your condition

So sorry to hear of your suffering especially as you are so young with young children.  I wonder what your MRI will show, hopefully they will soon be able to explain the mystery and start treating you properly for all the pain you are suffering. I wonder how you got on with PALS.   I would create as much fuss as you can, it canr be right that the doctors are so vague and unhelpful.  As I have said before after one year of constant pain I was reduced to being housebound because it was too painful to move.  Finally I went private costing £420 for the consultation and the x-rays and as I complained at the way I have been treated by the NHS, like you, the consultant said he would do the THR on the NHS, so I was rellieved because I would have to borrow the private fees for THR £11,500.

    Hope this helps Samantha.

Samantha, so sorry for what you are going through. I have been in your position and it's not fun . Make sure the doctor checks you to see if you have sacroiliac joint dysfunction and or trocanteric bursitis . Good luck to you and take care , Connie

      Hi connie

Thanks for your message my MRI results shows a tear in the labrum but nothing they can do for me other than an injection I'm having on Friday was so upset I asked what if that don't work he said we will come to that if that happens. My husband said how rude was he in thinking about going to see someone else. I've been doing some jogging as he advised to do some more excerises witch I have now made it worse roll on Friday. 😢😢

      Thanks Samantha

      Hi Samantha

, I am so sorry you have that tear . Please please please rest it and use a cane when even getting up out of the chair . Please find an arthroscopic orthopedic surgeon in your area who has performed the surgery many times , they can fix that labrum and I know my doctor can . He performing the surgeries six and nine months ago on both hips . Doing well now Y

ou did a great job fixing my hip and removing my bursa and repairing everything . Take lots of natural anti-inflammatories and use Voltaren gel on it to help the inflammation . , Good luck to you , take care

      Hi everyone

Well I had my US hip injection yesterday was in pain until I woke this morning this day is the best I have felt in a year still a bit stiff but no pain. I found out yesterday that it's not a tear I've damaged my tendon and will need surgery at some point. It just feels great knowing I don't have pain my husband thinks I should still tell the hospital I'm in pain to finally get it sorted as the injection will only last 4/6 months then back to square one again witch I'm not looking forward too last night was the best night sleep I've had in a year not waking up every few hours in pain thanks for everyone's reply and I will keep you all updated on how I get on 😀

      Hi currychic

Thanks for your post think I need to take my last post off as the pain has come back didn't think it would last long been back in touch with the hospital but have to wait another week to see if things change ie: pain. All I want is to actually find out what it is as I've been told 2 different things now and finally be pain free as I start my new job in September at my children's school and will involve a lot running jumping ect: and don't want to be taking time off so soon.

      Thanks Samantha

Yeah when my hip pain started 7 years ago it would come and go it appeared after breaking my left hip and being on crutches Dr first put it down to favouring the right side due to left side injuries but after that all settled pain would come and go but about 18 months ago i really set it of by driving a long distance 14 hours long and it gives me greif all the time. Finally said toy gp enough is enough i want a MRI where they found the impingement. Yestetday saw specialist snd had an ultra sound guided cortisone shot so i will see how that goes. Hope you get dome answers
