Has anybody got any good suggestion for hip arthritis -  anti inflammatory, supplements, injections, etc..  - my mother, 80,  went to the orthopaedic surgeon and he could only suggest hip replacement, which she is not sure about due to her age, she is in pain all the time

She tried glucosamine, rose hip, omega 3, flexiseq and glucosamine creams, nothing helps. Also painkillers dont help much either , even strong ones like tramadol

    Hi Polly

I'm sorry no suggestions [cry]   I've had 2  hip replacements.

I'm not  a doctor so cant suggest anything. I can just tell you what I take.

    Naproxen {anti inf.} 2 x day and paracetamol 4 times a day.

I also use PERITON cream......it helps a bit......I dont think therre are any such thing as pain killersbiggrin they are pain dullers......the same with the creams...if they help at all its a bonuse. Has she tried heat on it.......microwave wheat bags???

They help as a temp measure. Also a TENS machine might help
