Hi, what a bugger. Have you done yr exercises regularly. Strong muscles help hold everything in place. Not sure of yr story, you needed a revision only a year later and no restrictions. Not sure about that

Unfortunately I have. THR Feb 2015, Excellent recovery and home free 3 years. I fell twice on my replaced hip and that led to my first dislocation Apr 9 again Apr 19 of '18, and May 31, '18. I had revision surgery in July '18 with strict precautions for 3-4 months. I was doing beautifully but still using a cane when out due to weakness on my surgical side. At home though I was walking with nothing. December 15 when in my recliner, my hip dislocated. Like you off to the ER for reduction under anesthesia. Now I have a lot of grinding, clicking and awful noise when the joint moves. Learned today they need to go in to see exactly what the prosthesis is doing. Some damage occurred when mine came out. I hope yours is still smooth but be extra careful now to avoid another. Praying for you and me!

I was moving in a wrong direction when my hip came out 2X. I will go back for new surgery 1/31/19 and hopefully it will stay in place. The DR tells me it was my fault that the hip came out and I must follow the rules and not raise my knee above my waist or bend down too far. How your hip dislocated while just sitting is disappointing.

    Hi Nicole,

How odd, were you sitting at 90° or was the chair slightly lower, I used to take a cushion everywhere until my twelve week precautions were up. Strange your surgeon said no precautions as that advice may have encouraged movement of the implant earlier whereby just reaching over the table was the final push it needed.

I was sitting normal and because i had a revision he said no precautions because he only changes the ball and socket

I think he was wrong telling you no precautions, it was very nearly a further hip replacement and after even a dislocation you would need to follow strict precautions either way

Sitting in a chair that makes you sit at a 90% angle is ok so long as you do not lean forward at all and not to lean forward to stand up either.
