Morning Sally, a couple of months ago after a successful hip revision of about two years earlier I think I almost dislocated! I was sitting in the kitchen on a normal upright kitchen chair and had just dropped a piece of apple on the floor which had bounced under the table. Whilst still sitting I bent over and reached under the table to pick it up and felt the start of an extreme pain from. my hip. I gently relaxed and stopped reaching and the pain subsided. I'm sure that had I continued I would have suffered from a dislocated hip.
I'm a very fit and active 78 year old and I think that as I'm very flexible I simply put myself in a stupid position without realizing it! For several days following this incident my hip felt quite bruised. I've explained this in detail in the hope that it will bring an understanding of an example of hip dislocation. Cheers, Richard

sally very sorry . what has the surgeon said caused the dislocation ? and what has the surgeon recommended? did you experience pain for long periods of time since thr surgery?
dislocation can have various reasons for lack of stability of tissue surrounding the new joint. the instability of implementation of components with incorrect positions and improper fit or size.
usually if a mechanical cause is found then a revision is recommended.
hope all works out for you , sending healing prayers your way.

Hi Sallywally,
I am eighteen months post op (time flies), I thought I was passed the dislocation stage. Your post have made me aware I still need to be careful when exercising, I was thinking of trying to push my hip further when lifting leg up when lying on side maybe I will not push too hard and accept limited flexibility.
I hope you have had your sorted now.
