    Hi really sorry this has happened to you, did they not give you a booklet explaining the restrictions you needed to stick with?? have you returned to have it put back in, I'm presuming that you have or you wouldn't be able to walk at all with the pain.

    Be careful, it will take a while for the muscles to become stronger and keep it from dislocating again

    I was coming up to my 5th week 'anniversary' from having my left hip replacement this past Sunday night when I pulled a bonehead move and dislocated my hip. I am now completely familiar with the "10" on the pain scale. Luckily, the doctors and staff in the ER room could knock me out and reset things so my doctor said I would need any follow-up surgery. I spent the night in hospital and was released this past Monday afternoon.

    This was pretty traumatic -the pain was unbelievable and I'm upset with myself for not completely and absolutely following post-surgery protocols. I was doing very well with my

    recovery and now, I'll have to tack some more time onto recovery to get back to where I was.

    My best advice: Follow your protocols (no to leg-crossing, keeping knee under the hip, don't

    try to grab your socks, etc.) RELIGIOUSLY. Just because you think you can is not a reason to

    let your guard down!

    I t hasn't happened to me, but I'm glad to know it can happen. its probably like starting from the day of surgery. I am 5 weeks past surgery and I still have trouble bringing my foot up.

    what approach did you guys have?

      Mine was a posterior approach, which carries a slightly higher chance of having a dislocation. Couple that with my own I'm Invincible! attitude... and that means trouble. 😉

    Hi, I had my hip replacement on the 6/11/2018 and it felt great but about 2 weeks later I went up the stair and my hip popped out and straight away back in again. I don't now why it happened but the pain is getting less and I hopefully be able to walk without crutches soon.

    Kathy, did you go back to A&E to have xrays done. so you know that your hip is back in its normal position.

    I would advice to get it at least checked out at the hospital.

    They will then advise you what to do.
