Hip Issues

Hi All,
Current Age: 35
So I've been trawling the forum for quite some time reading all your stories and thought I would take the plunge and share mine in the hope that I can get some much needed advice/support in relation to what I have gone through over the last 20 months with my hip.
November 2018 is when I started struggling with severe lateral pain in my right only to be diagnosed with bi-lateral hip dysplasia with cam lesions on both sides (I was told at this point that without any doubt that I will need two hip replacements at some point in my life). After some initial tests I was told that the pain I was experiencing was down to bursitis and was given a steroid injection.
Now it did help with the muscular pain I was having but didn't with the pain I was experiencing when walking (with a limp) and especially with the whole sitting to standing motion. After going back to the consultant and having an MRI done I was diagnosed with a laberal tear and referred to a specialist to carry out an arthroscopy to attend to this.
I had my surgery on 10th February this year and upon waking was told by the surgeon that my hip was far worse than they imagined and that they had carried out the following procedures:
- Laberal Debridement
- Chrondoplasty
- Removal of the cam lesion
- Microfracture
and that ultimately the above had been done to buy me time before needing a hip replacement and that there were no guarantees with the success of the surgery.
During this time I actually feel like I am worse off based on the pain that I am continuing to experience and the fact that I have a terrible limp when trying to walk without cruthches.
With the impact that Covid-19 has had on the NHS I only had my follow up with the surgeon last week he ultimately advised that apart from successfully removing the cam lesion the surgery as a whole has pretty much failed and that there no further surgical interventions that they can offer apart from a THR which he is unwilling to do based on my age and the fact that it is unlikely that at this point that I would get even 10 years out of one. He explained that I have Grade 4 OA and that is ultimately what is now causing my persistent issues and that he was unable to microfracture the entire socket due to not being able to manipulate the drill at the required angles.
I was told that I will never play the sports I actively have played all my life will now be spectator sports which almost made me break down....
Finally I had an X-ray done while I was there and he compared it to one I had done in Oct 19 and it showed the arthritis was much worse! How?!! I've barely exerted myself post surgery so how can it have worsened.....
It's been a week today since I had to digest everything he told me and what this means now.....and I am struggling. The private physio I have engaged has said that I need to take a month at a time and that this is going to be an 'adjustment'.
Can anyone relate to the above or have some guidance that they can offer me at all? I'm really lost and upset about being in this position and ultimately don't know if there is anything I can do before it getting so bad that they have no choice but to do the surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to read the above - this is the first time I've reached out about my ordeal.
