Hip labrum repair rash

Posted , 9 users are following.

after I had surgery I noticed a rash that goes up my side and around my surgery site. But it's not below it. It itches and it's a bunch of little red bumps. I have been using hydrocortisone cream and taking an antihistamine but it's not changed much may have gotten worse. Any possibilities ?

Get it checked. It could be a reaction to something or it could be an infection. I wouldn't be messing around if it's near the surgical site.

Agree with Lee, get it checked.

Could be a reaction to betadine they painted you with, covered in it when I woke up after various surgeries, incl THR, above waist down to knees.

I am sensitive to betadine if it is left on me for any length of time, so after I woke up after surgery, I asked nurse to make sure she got most of it off, and then she wiped me down with baby wipes hypo-allergernic ones, that I know agree with me, I supplied them, anywhere she missed I started itching, so I kept up the routine of wiping myself down for a few days afterwards, giving the surgery site a border, didn't want to cause an infection.

Other than that an allergic reation to sticky dressings you had after your surgery.

I had red bumps where my staples were removed, could it be that?

I have been playing with setting up an informationweb page, but need a good idea for a website name - the bit after the three w's  ............ any ideas?

so far I have     THR        HIPS          HIPSURGERY      HIP-SURGERY

      and   ARTHROPLASTY

the end bit is fixed by the internet authority in UK. so  has to be something like  uk    gb. net    me     me. uk    co. uk     org. uk     info

I want to try to keep it reasonably short to make it easy to remember.

Maybe HIPREPLACEMENT Or has that been taken? Other than that I like HIP - SURGERY But it could be too general.

Thinking of you as you get ready for hip mark 2.

      Gaby,

Don't know why your name dropped off there - you were there on the original document - re-saved and uploaded again. cheesygrin

I had this too, and it was an allergic reaction, it did not go with anything I was given and just disappeared of its own accord. It was burning and itchy for weeks. If you are worried do get it checked out though.

I had this on both legs from top of my thighs to my ankles. It was a little itchy but it went away on its own. I had shown my visiting nurse and she didn't seem too concerned about it but told me to tell the doc if didn't go away.

Thanks all I'm gonna try my surgeon tomorrow. New insurance hasn't started so hoping he could help. I thought it might be the dressing but it's also above where the dressing is and seems to be getting worse. I hope it's not infected it's not oozing or pus. No staples i don't think it's on the actual cuts just around, I'm also still numb on the outside of my hip. Normal?
