crosado, they had to up my dose of vitamin d3 two weeks ago because of these types of symptoms you are describing.  I was near deficient even though i had been taking a normal supplement dose.  It has been trebled now, so go have your vitamin d3 tested.  It causes all sorts of symptoms similar to menopause.  I am hoping it helps with symptoms.

What was you symptoms can you describe them in more detail thx

I had lower back pain, leg muscle and shin pain and pain below knee.  Thought I was getting more menopause symptoms, as you do, but seems that lowering oestrogen levels can lower vitamin d levels and so they upped my dosage of vitamin d3.  I also had heavy legs,.

this is a piece from an article which is interesting:

Furthermore, some of the symptoms associated with vitamin D deficiency, such as mood disturbances and musculoskeletal complaints,[27] are similar to the symptoms experienced by women during the transition through menopause.[28] We therefore hypothesized that vitamin D levels may be associated with menopause-related symptoms.

How much vitamin D3 do you take now and how many times a day? Isn't vitamin D a fat soluble vitamin  so it would accumulate in our body every day is that a flush out is this correct ?  If it supposed to accumulate in our body every day and be a fat soluble vitamin then why and how do we lose vitamin D3 ?

i don't know the answers as to why it happens.  I just know that I was taking the regular recommended supplement of 800iu and they have increased it for me to 4000iu a day for 8 weeks because my blood levels were low.  Mine is now in liquid form as they thought I may not be absorbing it in tablet form.

Mine started about 3 months after my hysterectomy (start of menopause) it's hard to stand up from a sitting position and hard to walk. I was scared, thinking cancer...Dr says it's normal. Almost like your muscles have given out on you. I'm glad to hear someone else is feeling the same way, I feel for youwink

Did you ever experience the pressure or heaviness at times with it at times?

My vitamin D levels were low about two years ago I started taking vitamin D3 2000 units everyday and then became normal about a year ago. I had my hysterectomy in November 2015 and 3 months after that is when I started having heavy legs with my vitamin D levels being normal.

Hi Crosado. i have had chronic pain in left outer hip, outer knee & outer & front of shin for over 2yrs. i even had 2 steroid injections in my hip as they thought it was bursitis. the steroid injections didnt really help. they then ultrasounded it & found inflammation at the point where the muscles & tendons join the bone. the pain would only wake me up at  night when i've been in bed for an hour or so. every night . i would descbribe as feeling like deep bone pain.  in september i had some bloods done for another reason, & my doc found i had "insufficient" levels of vit d & she put me on 1600iu or 40mg of vit d. by the time my review appt came up with the doc that was dealing with my chronic pain in november, the pain has virtually disappeared - i am convinced it is the vit d supplement that has helped & my doctor agreed. she did this on prescription at first for first couple of months, now i have to buy it myself & take a total of 1400iu or 35mg daily. since i have reduced a little, the pain has slighlty & occasionally reappeared, so when these ones i have run out, i am going to go back up to 1600iu again. i have been virtually housebound with illness since may & I'm not a sun worshipper either, so it explains the low vit d levels. it did take a good 6wks before i felt a difference on the vit d, but definately worth getting a blood test to check your levels. x

does your Vitamin D level show up in regular blood work or do u have to ask for it as a special test.

Your Dr has to ask for it. Insurance companies are stingy on it. Hoping you find relief soon.

your doc has to request it specifically.
