Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good christmas. Well todays the day hopefully. Going in for my hip op later this morning. Bit worries it will set off my PMR again but managed to get down to the magical 10mg. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for support

    Morning mousemum, I am most happy for you. I hope the operation is a huge success. Does this mean that when the PMR is finally gone we'll see you running in the London marathon?!

    Good luck! The two ladies I know who have had a hip replacement found their PMR improved post-op and both were off pred altogether about a year or so later. It was almost as if the pain of the hip was aggravating the PMR. One was on 10mg at the time, the other 86 year old was on less - low enough for the hip pain to be back - but she too was off pred very quickly.

    All the best for a speedy recovery Mouseman.  Everyone I've known who has been through this surgery has said it's been the best thing that happened to them in years. You'll be dancing the jig in the New Year before you know it!

    Make sure that everyone knows that you have been on Prednisone, like your anesthetist and surgeon, they should ask about your meds. Also be aware every day that you are getting your corticosteroids until you are back in control of your own meds.

    I am sure all will go well and you will love your new hip.

    Good luck to you and hope all goes well with the pred. I had minor surgery recently and had no problem. I m at a 4 mg dose. You surgery is much more serious but if you need to bump the pred for a short time you can likely decrease fairly quickly. The experts on this forum will have the best advice but thought I'd share my experience.
